Sophie Vermeille

Partner and founder

Sophie Vermeille is a member of the Paris Bar, specializing in securities law, corporate governance and restructuring. She has also developed strong financial and accounting expertise.

Throughout her career, Sophie has advised institutional investors, hedge funds, asset managers, family offices and private individuals on strategic issues relating to market transactions, stock market litigation and shareholder activism.

Thanks to this expertise, she has developed in-depth knowledge of capital markets law and Chapter 11 proceedings in the United States, as well as corporate law in the United States (particularly Delaware) and the United Kingdom, and thus assists foreign clients in understanding the specificities of French law and the differences compared to their national legal frameworks.

Career

Sophie practiced for over 10 years with several international law firms in France and abroad before founding Vermeille & Co in 2017. She is a graduate of the University of Paris II - Panthéon- Assas, where she obtained a Magistère Juriste d'Affaires and the Diplôme de Juriste Conseil d'Entreprise (DJCE), and of King's College London, where she earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Business Law.

Other activities

Sophie is actively involved with public authorities in developing legal frameworks with a dual objective: promoting economic efficiency and strengthening the protection of investors, particularly minority shareholders and lenders in the financial markets. From 2012 to 2024, she founded and directed the think tank Droit & Croissance, helping to place legal and economic issues at the center of discussions on the competitiveness of the European market. Alongside her professional activities, Sophie teaches in the Master 2 Financial Law program at Université Panthéon-Sorbonne.
